Chapman Tripp Opera Chorus

The Chapman Tripp Opera Chorus is the amalgamation of two choruses, The National Opera of Wellington and Opera New Zealand (Auckland). The Chorus has been a fixture of the Wellington opera scene since the formation of Wellington City Opera in 1984 and continually receives excellent reviews.

Biography

With the amalgamation of The National Opera of Wellington and Opera New Zealand (Auckland) on 1 January 2000, to form The National Business Review New Zealand Opera, the choruses in both cities are now sponsored by Chapman Tripp. The Chorus has been a fixture of the Wellington opera scene since the formation of Wellington City Opera in 1984. Numbering 75 members, it continually receives excellent reviews. Highlights of recent years have been Wellington City Opera's Peter Grimes (1995), Eugene Onegin (1997), the National Opera of Wellington's La Bohème and Otello (1998) and the New Zealand International Festival of the Arts' Fidelio (1998).
